How do I setup the Authy desktop application to be used with Okta Multi-factor Authentication? AnswerĪuthy is a desktop application that can be used as another method of multi-factor authentication with Okta. So, the desktop 2FA option is a valid one, depending on your threat analysis.4.0 - Updated on by Denise Moser Question And that's why being mindful of our threat assessments and reviewing them from time to time is very important. The ultimate question becomes: what is the most likely vector of password compromise? And that question changes constantly. If we assume that one is more likely to get our passwords from the services we use (instead of our desktops), or even that one can get passwords from our mobile devices, then the desktop security measure legitimately adds a useful security function. If one can get your password, then one can get your 2FA code.īut, a desktop 2FA option is not useless if we change our assumptions. Since your threat analysis is desktop-based, then yes, your conclusion is correct that adding a security function to the already-assumed-to-be-compromised desktop does not add a layer of security. If that is your threat analysis, that's perfectly fine, just don't forget that you have made this differentiation. ![]() You made an assumption that affects your outcome, and you cannot forget that you are making this assumption: that one "likely" gets your password via the desktop computer (i.e. IOS, is comparatively the most closed ecosystem where unlike on Android most access are not opened in API and the app checking is more thorough. ![]() Smartphones have a more restrictive ecosystem and a shorter livespan, thus a lighter probability to be infected. Writing this I am understanding that this is based on the perception that:Ĭomputer integrity < Phone integrity < iOS integrityĬomputer are more likely to be corrupted through the pile of junk I am installing on it and their more important "openness" to system changes. But I can likely picture that someone able to setup a keylogger could steal enough information to reuse any 2FA system available on my desktop computer. In my understanding, an attacker would need to intercept my password (likely through a keylogger on my desktop machine were I log most) and an access to my phone, or to the key stored on my phone. Though I am not sure about adding a desktop 2FA utility. I am quite confident, especially when used on iOS (which has a better system level app segregation), that this gives a pretty good security. Basically 2FA relies on the idea that instead of just something you know, using a service also requires something you own.

Response to medical therapy may be disclosed, such as for atrial fibrillation (AF). ![]() Device function, including capture and sensing thresholds, may be reviewed (Table 32-1). ![]() This has been traditionally wand-based but more recently, with wireless telemetry using a programmer located within 10 feet (3 m). Interrogation of the device is performed using a programmer for bidirectional communication with the CIED. Face-to-face evaluation permits history taking, physical examination, electrocardiography, and radiography as indicated. In-person monitoring with a physician or allied professional in a clinic or medical institution has been the conventional standard for device follow-up. 3, 4 These place increasing demands on the health care system. Significant challenges are increasing volume of patients, complexity of both CIED and patient, maintaining continuous surveillance, capability of prompt problem detection, and management of retrieved data. For ICDs and CRT devices, this is performed at short intervals because of safety concerns (e.g., 3 monthly), although optimal frequency has not been tested. Current practice generally follows an in-clinic follow-up protocol by physicians and specially trained staff with retrieval of stored diagnostic data. The aims of monitoring are to (1) establish and maintain appropriate CIED function, (2) optimize its programming, (3) identify risks in implanted device (e.g., impending lead failure) or from changes in patient condition (e.g., advent of AF), (4) monitor response to therapy, and (5) provide a communication channel for systematic data review. ![]() Despite this, physician and patient interest has generally focused on the acute implant itself. Extension of this to CIED therapy implies implementation of careful postimplant monitoring and timely response to any changing need. Ī guiding principle of medical therapy is the requirement for monitoring both the action of the therapy and the condition of the patient. Recently, data to guide postimplant follow-up have emerged from prospective trials testing conventional follow-up as well as the value of remote monitoring mechanisms. Collective experience has led to the evolution of specialized CIED follow-up clinics staffed by trained physicians and device specialists. However, CIED follow-up has not been standardized. Concomitantly, improved CIED monitoring mechanisms are needed for timely retrieval of important diagnostic data and rigorous assessment of system performance to ensure patient safety. 2Ĭurrent CIEDs have a sophisticated capacity to identify, quantify, and present diagnostic data regarding their own performance as well as the patient’s condition (e.g., arrhythmias, hemodynamic parameters). An estimated 1 million devices were implanted in 2007, and this number will increase as their range and versatility increase. ![]() Positive results from recent trials for prophylactic ICDs and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices have driven an expansion of indications and spurred an exponential increase in CIED use. Functional roles may overlap, and capabilities for ventricular tachyarrhythmia therapy, biventricular stimulation, and collection of heart failure monitoring data may be contained in a single device. 1 Since their inception in 1958, the function of CIEDs and monitoring of patients have become more complex. Implantation is indicated for treatment, diagnosis, and monitoring of bradycardia, tachycardia, and most recently, heart failure. Cardiovascular implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) include cardiac pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), and leadless devices such as implantable loop recorders and cardiovascular monitors. ![]() ![]() While it’s clearly far too simplistic to assert that “happy reps = happy customers” (customers are often unhappy about things that are outside of your reps’ control, after all), unhappy reps certainly aren’t primed to do your customer satisfaction levels any favors. Remix runs alongside the difficulties, so you can mix and match how challenging you want the board to be. Remix changes up some of the blocks you see, putting in more Tetris-like pieces on the board rather than having the board filled with cubes. However, for the sake of integrity, I muscled through on my own. Remix Mode changes some of the cubes on the field into Tetris-like pieces. Having that fallback gave me a sense of relief that I could still consume the game proper without an almost inevitable failure. This means that I could be stumped by a puzzle and just let the game play it through for me. The biggest motivator for me was Safety Mode. Full Body featuresĪs mentioned in the introduction, a couple new features had me ready to jump back into Catherine. Perhaps the team would have benefited placing that reaction scene closer to the end of the game, where choice truly affects the outcome. Regardless, the lack of choice in this first moment leaves me feeling cold. The possibility of reconciling with Rin is still there in the last couple chapters, of course, and I appreciate this aspect of the story. Vincent felt genuine affection for Rin, even after the discovery, so the fixed narrative delivery feels a little off to me. Vincent’s reaction to Rin occurred in chapter 5 of 9 total chapters, yet the way I had directed Vincent in my mind would have seen him react more like I would have: equal parts surprised and curious. Even before Full Body, all the choices only affected events in the last couple chapters. The game does so many things well, but choice is not one of those things. This is exactly where I’m at with Catherine: Full Body. ![]() Even after his bad reaction to Rin, he felt downtrodden and guilty for not having reacted better. Vincent learns the truth about Rin, and up until that point, Vincent had begun to see things from new perspectives and grew as a character. Rather, I feel bottle-necked into how the narrative doesn’t give me a choice in that interaction. ![]() I don’t think about the fact that Vincent has a lapse in judgment and freaks out. Rin brings a fresh perspective to the character list. The team behind Catherine attempts to approach some more modern circumstances with Rin, and one particular point in the game comes to mind when I think about this subject. Rin is soft spoken and doesn’t impose herself anywhere, but she greets everyone with a genuine innocence and a profound worldview, a combination that couples extremely well. The general Catherine storyline remains the same in Catherine: Full Body, with the biggest additions and adjustments revolving around Qatherine, or Rin, the newest companion to join the game. In medicine, it is used to find and treat diseases. These particles stick in the atoms and make them radioactive.Ĭobalt-60 is one of the most widely used of all radioactive isotopes. Radioactive isotopes are produced when very small particles are fired at atoms. A radioactive isotope is one that breaks apart and gives off some form of radiation. Ten radioactive isotopes of cobalt are known also. Neutrons in the atom of any one element can vary. The number of protons determines the element, but the number of The mass number represents the number of protons plus neutrons in the nucleus of an atom of the element. The number written to the right of the element's name is the mass number. Isotopes differ from each other according to their mass number. Isotopes are two or more forms of an element. There is only one naturally occurring isotope of cobalt, cobalt-59. The word cobalt, from the German word Kobold, meaning "goblin" or "evil spirit," was used by miners to describe a mineral that was very difficult to mine and was damaging to their health. The major suppliers of cobalt in the world are Zambia, Canada, Russia, Australia, Zaire, and Cuba. ![]() ![]() The most common ores of cobalt are cobaltite, smaltite, chloranthite, and linnaeite. This places it in the upper third of elements according to their abundance in the Earth's crust. Occurrence in natureĬobalt is a relatively abundant element at about 10 to 30 parts per million. It does not react with water at room temperatures. It reacts with most acids to produce hydrogen gas. It combines slowly with oxygen in the air, but does not catch fire and burn unless it is in a powder form. Chemical propertiesĬobalt is a moderately reactive element. The density is 8.9 grams per cubic centimeter. The melting point of cobalt metal is 1,493 ☌ (2,719 ☏), and the boiling point is about 3,100 ☌ (5,600 ☏). The mixture has properties different from those of the individual metals. An alloy is made by melting and mixing two or more metals. The magnetic properties of cobalt are even more obvious in alloys. Malleable means capable of being hammered into thin sheets.Ĭobalt is one of only three naturally occurring magnetic metals. Ductile means capable of being drawn into thin wires. It is ductile, but only moderately malleable. Physical propertiesĬobalt is a hard, gray metal that looks much like iron and nickel. The name chosen was a version of the original German term, Kobold. (Copper and cobalt compounds had long been confused with each other.) Eventually, Brandt was given credit for the discovery of the element. He showed that its compounds were a much deeper blue than copper compounds. The gas that affected the miners was arsenic trioxide (As 4O 6), which often occurs with cobalt in nature.Īt first, chemists were skeptical about Brandt's claims of a new element, but he continued his research on the mineral. When the mineral was heated, it gave off an offensive gas that caused illness. In German, the word Kobold means "goblin" or "evil spirit." The term was used by miners to describe a mineral that was very difficult to mine and was damaging to their health. The word cobalt may have been first used near the end of the fifteenth century. Cobalt minerals were especially prized for their rich blue color. Craftsmen used materials from the earth to color glass, pottery, glazes, and other materials. Discovery and namingĬobalt dyes have been used for centuries. Superalloys are used in jet engine parts and gas turbines. Superalloys are resistant to corrosion (rusting) and retain their properties at high temperatures. Superalloys primarily consist of iron, cobalt, or nickel, with small amounts of other metals, such as chromium, tungsten, aluminum, and titanium. The most important application is in the production of superalloys. The United States has to import all the cobalt it uses. Cobalt is located between iron and nickel and shares many chemical and physical properties with these two elements. ![]() The periodic table is a chart that shows how chemical elements are related to each other. Brandt demonstrated that the pigment contained a new element, later named cobalt.Ĭobalt is a transition metal, one of several elements found in Rows 4 through 7 between Groups 2 and 13 in the periodic table. In 1735, Swedish chemist Georg Brandt (1694-1768) analyzed a dark blue pigment found in copper ore. The compounds were used to color glass and glazes blue. Humans have been using compounds of cobalt since at least 1400 b.c. You can use it, for example, to create a swing effect, although the Playback Controls provide a much more efficient and effective method of creating swing. You’ll rarely need to know about the fairly technical concept of the Tempo tool nonetheless, you can use it to create certain unique temporal effects. The Tempo tool lets you edit tiny, moment-by-moment tempo fluctuations within the playback of a piece. However, there is hard-wired tempo MIDI data, set to 120. I don't see a tempo expression in the piece anywhere, so maybe I'm confused. If I want metronome marking text, I insert it but with no playback rule, so that it doesn't interfere with my ability to experiment easily with tempos. Normally the way I work is to use the tempo tool next to the speaker icon to set or change tempo. But I noticed that if I use your suggestion, the first measure of the piece begins playing at a quicker tempo, and in the second measure, it immediately drops back to the slow tempo that I want to get rid of. My understanding is that if you use the expression tool to place metronome marking text like 1/4 = !40, AND you either click Match play to metrnome marking text (your suggestion) OR set type to tempo and set value to 140, then playback will be at 140 from that point to the end, or until it is changed.
